Oxford’s Complete Catering was delighted to win the contract to become the official Oxford Utd team caterer in Summer 2016. But the newly promoted football team’s training facilities had no catering capability, so they turned to PKL for help.
Without catering facilities, the team had been having food delivered throughout the previous season, but this was not providing the kind of planned nutrition their players needed to aid their training and performance.
From years on the event catering circuit Complete Catering director Jon Kay and his chef Simon Crispin-Coomber knew a modular kitchen could solve this problem and approached PKL for help.
Thanks to the large range of catering equipment available from PKL the Caterers were able to spec the kitchen so that it could produce a range of meals able to fulfill the nutritional needs of the team. The equipment was supplied inside a PKL Mini Kitchen, which was delivered and installed at the OUFC training ground.
The high quality facilities now on site allow Complete Catering to work closely with Oxford’s team of sports scientists and trainers to create meals geared towards the team’s training schedule and match days, helping individual players with their personal training plans or even on their route back from injury.
Jon said: “Having a full kitchen on site allows us to provide freshly cooked meals that are healthy, tasty and nutritious. The PKL kitchen really is a home from home for us, with great quality equipment that allows us to cook exactly what the players need, fresh to order
Simon Crispin-Coomber, chef for Complete Catering said he was delighted to be working on site, so close to the players.
“We believe strongly in sourcing local ingredients and cooking fresh each day,” he said. “The feedback we are getting from the players and staff is brilliant to hear. We are very proud of the job we do, and it’s been made possible by our PKL kitchen.”
