Consultants advise clients who operate commercial kitchens, such as schools, hospitals, care homes and prisons, on how best to refurbish, upgrade or replace them. The value of that advice depends on it being delivered cleanly, on programme and to specification. PKL supports building and foodservice consultants and their end clients with the delivery side of that work: firming up recommendations with technical input, keeping the client running through the works with temporary kitchen facilities, and providing the permanent kitchen where a new or replacement solution is recommended.
How we Support Consultants
PKL gives a consultant a dependable delivery partner for the catering element of a project, so recommendations translate cleanly into a working facility:
One Partner from Design to Handover
Design-led and Dependable
We work alongside consultants from concept through to a fully operational kitchen, providing the technical expertise needed to support and validate recommendations, including layouts, equipment schedules, utility requirements and a proven delivery track record. Because PKL designs, supplies and installs the facility, a consultant’s recommendation is carried through by one accountable provider rather than handed across multiple suppliers, reducing the risk of the delivered solution deviating from the original specification.
Continuity During the Works
Many of the projects consultants advise on happen on occupied sites that cannot stop serving meals. Where a client’s kitchen must come out during the works, PKL supplies temporary kitchen hire so meals continue uninterrupted, which removes a common source of delay and lets the recommended works proceed without the pressure of a live kitchen in the middle of them.
Permanent Solutions
Where the recommendation is a new build or a full replacement, PKL delivers permanent modular kitchens built off site to the agreed specification and installed with minimal disruption. Off-site construction gives predictable quality and programme, which helps a consultant hold a project to the plan and budget advised. Permanent kitchens can be purchased outright or taken on a contract-hire basis, so a consultant can advise the route that best suits the client’s capital and revenue position, and because they are built off site, time and disruption on the ground are kept to a minimum.
Sectors we Work in
We support consultants across the sectors that rely on commercial catering, including education, healthcare, care homes, local authorities and the secure estate, so we understand the compliance, hygiene and operational standards each setting requires and can deliver to them.
A Complete Kitchen Solution
The Facilities we Provide
Whatever a consultant recommends, PKL can supply the facility to deliver it. For continuity during works we provide temporary production and preparation kitchens, cold rooms, refrigeration and commercial catering equipment, hired individually or linked into a larger complex. For new or replacement schemes we supply permanent modular kitchens, including food cubes, full production kitchens and café and dining facilities, built off site to the agreed specification. Where only part of a kitchen needs covering, we hire standalone equipment and refrigeration rather than a whole facility. Each option is specified to the client’s menu, meal volumes and site, and delivered on a fully managed basis. It also means a consultant can compare temporary and permanent options on a like-for-like basis, with one supplier accountable for both.
A Dependable Delivery Partner
From kitchen design and technical input through temporary kitchen cover to the permanent facility, PKL delivers on a fully managed basis, so the client experiences a single, coordinated project and the consultant’s advice is realised in full. We hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, with CHAS, SAFEcontractor, Constructionline, Gas Safe and CSCS, and route public-sector work through compliant frameworks including ESPO and YPO. With more than 600 kitchen units, over 15,000 facilities delivered and more than 35 years’ experience, we bring the scale and reliability a consultant needs to recommend us with confidence.
FAQs
- 1
Can you support the recommendations we make to clients?
Yes. We provide design and technical input to firm up a recommendation, including layouts, equipment schedules and services, then deliver the facility on a fully managed basis.
- 2
Can you keep our client running during the works?
Yes. We supply temporary kitchens alongside the project so the client keeps serving meals, then remove them once the permanent facility is ready.
- 3
Do you provide both temporary and permanent solutions?
Yes. We cover temporary cover during the works and permanent modular kitchens for new or replacement facilities.
- 4
Will the delivered kitchen match what we advised?
Yes. Because we design, supply and install the facility as one team, the delivered kitchen is carried through from the recommendation rather than handed between suppliers.
- 5
Do you work across different sectors?
Yes. We support consultants across education, healthcare, care homes, local authorities and the secure estate, to the standards each setting requires.
- 6
Can the permanent kitchen be purchased or hired?
Both. Permanent modular kitchens can be purchased outright or taken on a contract-hire basis covering service and maintenance, so a consultant can recommend the option that best fits the client’s capital and revenue budgets.
