Corporate and Social Responsibility
We recognise our responsibility to undertake business activities in a socially, environmentally and morally responsible manner. To this end we have introduced a programme a corporate and social responsibility, focusing on limiting our impact on our environment and enhancing our involvement in the local community.
PKL is an ISO14001 accredited company. To ensure we provide services within an environmentally sound framework, as a Company we are committed to operating an Environmental Management System, which meets the requirements of ISO14001.
It is our policy to:
Ensure employees and workers act in accordance with this policy and the Company’s Environmental Management System.
Ensure our employees and workers have the relevant competences to fulfill their environmental responsibilities.
Implement procedures to detect and where possible prevent pollution.
Set and monitor environmental objectives and targets.
Reduce waste and the consumption of resources (materials, fuel and energy) and ensure unavoidable waste is recycled, reused or recovered where possible or disposed of responsibly.
Foster a sense of responsibility for the environment amongst the Company’s employees and workers.
Monitor and where possible reduce the impact of our activities on the local and wider environment.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Continually strive to improve the Company’s environmental performance.
The Directors and Management Representatives shall be responsible for the regular review of this policy and where necessary they shall update it and ensure any changes are communicated to all employees and workers.
In addition to this, we have introduced a new range of eKitchens, energy efficient temporary kitchens, which offer a significantly improved energy rating and performance.
Involvement Within the Community
We have made significant efforts to increase our involvement within our local community in recent years.
We have close links with our local school, regularly taking pupils for work experience while PKL staff has also attended a number of industry days at the school, helping pupils out with business projects and careers advice.
We are involved in the sponsorship of a local sports clubs and donate equipment to local causes such as charities and sports clubs, while we have donated a number of temporary kitchens for use a charity events throughout the UK.
Our chosen company charity is the Children’s Food Trust. with whom we have worked closely over the last five years, promoting their initiatives to help children eat better, and therefore do better. In addition PKL’s Managing Director, Lee Vines, is the Chairman of Let’s Get Cooking, a Community Interest Company.
