We recognise our responsibility to undertake business activities in a socially, environmentally and morally responsible manner. To this end we have introduced a programme a corporate and social responsibility, focusing on limiting our impact on our environment and enhancing our involvement in the local community.
Environmental Policy Statement
PKL Group is a world leading supplier of modular and portable catering infrastructure. Currently employing 80 people, the company was formed in 1988 and operates from Cheltenham. PKL owns and operates 600 portable kitchen units and 10,000 items of catering equipment used to provide foodservice solutions around the world. Our solutions include, temporary catering facilities including kitchens and commercial catering equipment, permanent modular kitchens and rental of catering equipment.
We aspire to help every customer achieve their ideal kitchen through our innovative products, regardless of their situation, size and financial resources – we want to set the standard in everything that we do. We operate our business using an integrated management system which covers quality, environmental and health and safety. We meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 (replacing OHSAS 18001) and we are committed to the continual improvement of our integrated management system.
We will always seek to identify and implement opportunities for continual improvement in our quality, environmental and health and safety performance. We will set annual objectives and targets which help us to manage our business risks effectively, monitor and where possible, reduce our environmental impacts on both the local and wider environment and are also aligned with our Future Development Plan. We are committed to reducing waste and the consumption of resources (materials, fuel and energy) and ensure that unavoidable waste is recycled, reused or recovered where possible or disposed of responsibly.
We are committed to the protection of the environment and the prevention of pollution, both on a personal level as the majority of our staff live locally but also due to the increased expectation of our customers that PKL is a responsible company operating in a sustainable way. We will all look for opportunities to improve our products, services and environment.
We are committed to communicating, engaging and consulting with our employees and to making sure that everybody is aware of their individual responsibilities and commitments so that we can achieve our objectives and live up to our values – we all have a role to play. This Environmental Policy Statement and associated integrated management system is fully supported by the Directors and the Senior Management Team who take the responsibility for the effectiveness of this system in complying with applicable legal, customer and industry body requirements. The Directors and Senior Management Team are committed to providing resources as well as training and developing our staff as we believe that this helps us to achieve excellence in what we do – we also want to ensure that no-one gets left behind. The Directors and Senior Management Team are committed to reviewing this Policy Statement on an annual basis to ensure that it still supports the achievement of our strategic direction which is detailed in our Future Development Plan.
PKL is an ISO14001 accredited company. To ensure we provide services within an environmentally sound framework, as a Company we are committed to operating an Environmental Management System, which meets the requirements of ISO14001.
Involvement Within the Community
We have made significant efforts to increase our involvement within our local community in recent years.
We have close links with our local school, regularly taking pupils for work experience while PKL staff has also attended a number of industry days at the school, helping pupils out with business projects and careers advice.
We are involved in the sponsorship of a local sports clubs and donate equipment to local causes such as charities and sports clubs, while we have donated a number of temporary kitchens for use a charity events throughout the UK.
