London Games Athletes Village Large Scale Kitchen and Dining

Working with Games Organising Committee and master caterer, PKL supplied and installed the kitchen and dining foodservice equipment for the athletes’ dining facility at the London 2012 Games. With over 60,000 meals served per day throughout the Games, the quality and
reliability of the facility was of the utmost importance.

With an overall footprint of 19,200m2, this was a significant project that was successfully delivered on time and on budget to the highest standard. PKL project managers oversaw the entire operation and were in constant liaison with Games Organising Committee and other site contractors. As well as providing the hire of the foodservice equipment, PKL also provided the design and installation of electrical, plumbing and mechanical services, the secondary hot water system, and all in-ground drainage works and pumps. Additionally, PKL provided 24-hour maintenance cover during the Games, with specialist engineers based on site.

Following a design period of 8 months, the on-site construction took just 5 months due to PKL’s detailed planning and preparation. The facility’s operational period was 12 weeks.
