Large Scale Catering Equipment Hire for Asian Games

In 2010, China played host to the 16th Asian Games in Ghuangzhou. PKL’s previous project experience from the Beijing 2008 Summer Games was instrumental in supporting the large volume of meals produced by the Master Caterer, Nearly 10,000 athletes from 45 countries attended the Games, making it the largest Asian Games ever.

PKL were able to bring in a project team already familiar with Chinese regulations and standards, which included employing a team of local nationals to ensure cultural and language barriers would not pose a problem to the delivery of the scheme. The main kitchens included 1,500 items of catering equipment, with 1,200 square metres of cold storage, 250 metres of temporary walls and 150 metres of custom-made shop fitted serveries.

Working with the onsite master caterer, PKL provided detailed designs and specification of service utilities that were installed within a permanent structure. PKL also provided technical assistance to the Organizing Committee, and assisted the construction and engineering contractors on site.
