Karsten Heard Passes Low Carbon Consultant Design Exam
We are delighted to announce that Karsten Heard, PKL’s Design and Technical Development Manager, has passed the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant Design exam.
Karsten is now trained and certified as competent by CIBSE to minimise energy use and lower carbon emissions from PKL’s kitchens, both in design and operation. UK law requires all buildings to be compliant with Part L of Building Regulations (all installations that are over a 2-years in duration or larger than 50m2) to help achieve low or net-zero CO2 emissions.
The course was set over 3 days and allowed Karsten to go beyond the current legal minima in improving the energy performance of both new and existing buildings.
This now means that Karsten is certified to do the following:
- Confirming Part L2A Compliance against all 5 compliance Criteria
- Advise on energy efficiency and conservation
- Advise on and design low carbon and renewable technologies
- Use passive design technologies to make the best use of shade and natural ventilation
- Deliver the information needed to manage the building effectively and ensure that it continues to perform to its design intent after handover
This certification and continual improvement of our staff’s expertise illustrates PKL’s attitude towards continually improving the sustainability of our company’s product and service offering and our ongoing commitment to the environment.
