PKL helped a construction company create COVID-Secure villages for its staff, allowing them to continue operating during the initial COVID lockdown.
The national company normally housed its workers in hotels near to work sites, but with the closure of the country’s hotels and bed and breakfasts following COVID legislation in March 2020, this seemed to be in jeopardy.
The company created a temporary village with modular units for their staff, but it had no catering facilities. After a call to PKL, the company added a Field Kitchen to the site and arranged for a chef from a local sports club (who had been on Furlough) to provide food during the summer months, keeping their staff in employment, protecting them from high risk of COVID infection and maintaining their business.
“The team loved the setup we created,” said the site’s manager. “The addition of a good professional kitchen allowed them to keep working and living safely despite the restrictions we faced. PKL were great: they gave us exactly what we needed, quickly, efficiently, and in a COVID-Secure manner that gave us huge confidence.”
From the first call to deployment took just a week and this facility allowed the company to continue working safely throughout the summer of 2020.
