Design, supply and installation of four 1500 man modular kitchens

To support the UK MOD, PKL were responsible for the design and off site manufacture of modular catering facilities that were installed into bomb proof buildings. In total, four such facilities were installed by PKL in Basra over a 9 month period. The catering design was to strict UK MOD JSP Scale entitlements and the building structure to UK building regulations.
Scope of Work
Design and off-site construction.
Preparation of all site foundation and service drawings enabling KBR to carry out site works during shipping period.
Design responsibility of complex M&E package which included sophisticated air handling system designed to working in 60 deg C temperature range, inside a bomb proof building in desert conditions.
Provision of site installation crew for module construction, mechanical, electrical and overall project management.
Commissioning and testing of facility plus full training of personnel.

Catering design in full compliance with JSP Scale entitlement for DFAC facilities.
Design liaison was required at all times with KBR design managers, as PKL were also responsible for the complex mechanical and electrical design and installation, specified to main air temperature and air purity between -10 deg C and +50 deg C in challenging desert conditions.
