Gullane Golf Club is a private members’ club with a remarkable history, stunning panoramic views over the Firth of Forth, and a warm welcome with three courses.
The Club wanted to undertake a significant refurbishment to the Visitors’ Clubhouse but wanted to retain its dining facilities for guests and members. The clubhouse, which is conveniently placed next to two of the clubs three courses and its practice ground, is a popular attraction and required a top-quality kitchen and dining facility.
PKL was recommended to the club by their contractors, who have worked with both the club and PKL on projects in the past. The club investigated PKL’s products and services and decided they were a perfect fit for its needs during the refurbishment.
The challenge for PKL was creating a kitchen that would be able to serve the numbers of visitors Gullane were expecting, whilst allowing easy access to the temporary dining facility, all within a very tight footprint. The club wanted to connect the temporary bar and dining requirement directly to the kitchen, to ease production processes.
Gullane Property Convenor John Hyne said: “We were looking for a temporary kitchen that was a complete package in terms of specification and size due to the limited space we had available. Ideally, we wanted to link the kitchen to the bar and dining space to a predesigned position, PKL were able to accommodate this requirement perfectly.
“PKL provided us with a Kitchen that came fully equipped to our chef’s requirements. The benefit of the kitchen package is that we could move from our existing kitchen to the new PKL kitchen with limited transfer of equipment. We were able to provide the same service to our members and guests.”
PKL designed a unit that contained all the equipment the club’s chefs needed and connected it seamlessly with the temporary dining room and bar which was already in place. The kitchen came pre-installed with all the required equipment, and was connected and commissioned by PKL engineers on site.
The installation meant a seamless transition to the new, temporary setup, with little disruption to staff, members, or guests at the course.
