Kitchen and Dining Facility Positioned on a Ship in Gran Canaria
Client
Major offshore exploration company.
Requirement
To feed 20 staff during their stints offshore
Supplied
PKL were asked to supply both a modular kitchen and dining facility, and a modular laundry, to be positioned on a drilling ship just off the coast of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, for a major offshore exploration company.
All units were prepared at PKL’s UK headquarters in Cheltenham, and delivered to site ready for installation.
A PKL project manager and installation team installed the facility on the ship over two days, installing and commissioning the kitchen and laundry ready for the ship’s next deployment. The four units were installed with millimetre-precision onto deck.
The kitchen and dining facility comprised three 6 metre units, and contained a kitchen with an extraction canopy, double fryer, electric hob and griddle, along with an upright fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The dining facility included seating for 32, and chilled food and drinks dispensers.
The laundry facility included two commercial washing machines and two commercial dryers. All four units benefited from an air conditioning system, specified for the Gran Canaria coastal climate, which were installed and commissioned by PKL’s specialist engineers.
Approximately 20 staff, will receive breakfast, lunch and evening meal from the kitchen and dining facility during their stints offshore and will use the modular laundry facility as required.
