Rapid-deployment Kitchens for Training and Operations
For training exercises and operational deployments, PKL supplies rapid-deployment temporary kitchen complexes that can be installed quickly and scaled to the size of the force being fed. Units link together into large-scale kitchens and full dining complexes, and our remote-site kitchens and camps are designed to operate where infrastructure is limited, with power, water and waste provision arranged as part of the facility. Every unit is prepared, tested and commissioned at our specialist facility before deployment, enabling the kitchen complex to be brought into service quickly and efficiently once it arrives on site.
Built for Demanding Environments
Defence catering often has to perform where conditions are extreme. PKL has supplied facilities with sophisticated air-handling systems designed to operate in temperatures up to 60°C, and kitchens installed inside hardened, bomb-proof structures for desert conditions. The same engineering discipline applies wherever a facility is deployed: kitchens are built to commercial standards, fitted with the equipment the menu requires, and finished to withstand heavy, continuous use in the field.
Permanent Facilities for Fixed Camps
Where a site is permanent, such as a fixed training camp, a temporary complex is not always the right answer. PKL supplies permanent modular kitchens as a lasting solution, designed around the numbers being fed and the demands of the location, and built off site to reduce time and disruption on the ground.
What we Provide for Defence
PKL handles the whole facility, from design and engineering through to preparation, testing, delivery, installation and support. Facilities are engineered to the environment they will operate in and are prepared and tested at our specialist centre before deployment, so the catering complex arrives ready to feed the force and keeps running for the length of the exercise or deployment.
We can also supply the ancillary facilities a camp needs alongside the kitchen, including refrigeration, cold storage and temporary laundries, so a single supplier covers the catering and welfare elements of a deployment.
