PKL supplied a temporary “Mini” kitchen during the refurbishment of Magdalen House’s ageing kitchen, which involved the replacement of the floor and a complete revamp of the equipment and layout.
With such a large upheaval, the Trust board knew they needed a simple and innovative solution to continue providing meals during the renovation – and their kitchen designers suggested investigating the Mini Kitchens provided by PKL.
PKL were invited to tender and won the contract after a robust process, with sign off from the Board of Trustees.
Working with Maintenance Manager Greg Lewis, PKL designed the perfect Mini Kitchen for the home’s varied menu in a place that was both convenient for preparation and serving of meals and didn’t interfere with access to any of the home’s entrances.
The unobtrusive Mini Kitchen was situated in front of the main doors following two site visits by PKL sales team members. The process had taken just two months from first contact to installation, and the solution offered by the modular kitchen simplified the hire for the charity.
“We’ve been planning the renovation for more than two years, and this simple modular solution has allowed us to continue serving our guests and the members of the community that we serve each week in the day centre. The unit, which has ventilation included along with all the cooking equipment and preparation space we need, is really simple and straightforward – one delivery and it’s done. We are very happy with the service we have received and the performance of the kitchen.”
