PKL is celebrating after it’s Garbage Guzzler waste digester won a silver award for innovation at the 2017 Commercial Kitchen show.
Ten finalists, including the aerobic Guzzler, were chosen by public vote on the first day of the show, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham.
The ten finalists had to pitch their product to a panel of industry experts on the event’s second day and then gold silver and bronze awards were handed out.
Marketing Manager Sam Christie gave a short presentation before fielding questions on the guzzler’s innovative and easy-to-use technology. After a tense wait it was announced the Guzzler had won a Silver award.
Sam said: “We were delighted not only to have the opportunity to showcase our innovative new technology at Commercial Kitchen, but also to receive industry recognition in terms of a silver award. It was great to see the interest that was generated for the Garbage Guzzler back on our stand as well, after we had pitched in the Innovation Challenge.”
The judges commended the Garbage Guzzler, and said it was great to see an innovation with such strong eco credentials.
The show, which was in its second year, proved a resounding success for PKL. As well as the awards and interest in the Guzzler, the company also attracted delegate’s interest with an virtual reality display, which allowed visitors to ‘walk around’ PKL’s headquarters, one of its permanent kitchens and a temporary kitchen.
“We found the show overall to be a success for PKL,” said Sam. “The good quality of delegates visiting our stand provided us with an excellent opportunity to show our complete range of products to the industry, knowing we were in front of the right people.”
