Frequently Asked Questions - Services

Q: What services do I need?
A: Most of our catering equipment is available in either gas or electric. Gas items are set up as LPG but can be converted to natural gas if required. Our Portable Kitchens always require a supply of electricity to run the extraction fans, fridges and lighting. The equipment generally runs on LPG, but again, can be converted to natural gas if required.

Q: What services do you provide?
A: PKL have a contract with Calor Gas to provide LPG.

Q: Do you connect services for me?
A: PKL have fully trained, CORGI and NICEIC registered engineers that are available to install, commission and provide staff training for you. Along with this, we can provide installation of water and waste. If this is something you require, please contact our sales team for a quotation.

Q: What size connections will I need?
A: Details about required connections can be found on the PKL website. Each individual item of catering equipment is listed with the connections it requires. Alternatively, contact our sales team for further information.

Q: Are PKL Portable Kitchens self sufficient?
A: PKL Portable Kitchens come pre-fitted with gas manifolds but an external gas source is required. This is also the case for water, waste and electricity.

Q: Do you supply generators, water tanks or waste tanks?
A: These are not standard within our fleet but we have worked with many contractors over the years that know our Portable Kitchen units and will be able to assist you with these. We can put you in contact with these external contractors.

Q: Can you easily connect multiple items of stand alone catering equipment?
A: If the catering equipment is gas, then we can provide raised, freestanding manifolds, which are positioned at the rear of the equipment. Numerous items of equipment can be linked in this manner, providing a hazard free environment.

Q: Do I need to disconnect services before collection?
A: Yes. When your Portable Kitchen is due for collection, you need to ensure that all connections to water, waste and electricity are disconnected so that our drivers can easily remove the unit.
